Grab yourself a portrait session bargain – Cheshire Portrait Photographer

and do something for charity at the same time!100 4813 Grab yourself a portrait session bargain Cheshire Portrait Photographer Those of you who know me will be aware that over the last couple of years I’ve been making attempts at becoming a runner. Now, I’m never going to be much more than a jogger but it’s become a bit of an addiction. Always striving for a goal and, whilst celebrating (with wine of course ) crawling round a 10K race earlier this year I signed up for the English Half Marathon which is being held in my home town in October.

Every time I think about it I have a slight hysterical twitch but then I’ve still got a couple of months to go so try and keep the panic at bay.

As a result of my various endeavours over the last few years I’ve sent many emails asking for sponsorship and my friends and colleagues have always been more than supportive. This time round though I thought it was about time that, in addition to the effort of training, I should give something back and so have cooked up this charity photoshoot idea.

I’ve decided this time to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support ; a cause very dear to my heart and who do brilliant work in supporting those suffering from cancer and, just as important, family and friends of sufferers.

So, how does it all work?

On two weekends in September (dates TBC) I shall be offering photoshoots to families, groups of friends, couples for a fraction of the normal price. The majority of your payment goes to Macmillan Cancer Support, a small portion will be kept to cover adminstration and set up costs. A week or so after the photoshoot you will be able to view your images online and select which one you would like to receive as your free 10×8 print. In addition you will be able to purchase further images, canvases, whatever takes your fancy, again, at a reduced cost. 10% of total sales will be donated to Macmillan.

How much?

The sessions will cost £25. From that, £15 will be donated directly to Macmillan through my justgiving page (with a reference to you so you can see where your money has gone)

How long?

The sessions will last 1/2 an hour and from that you can expect to be able to view 15-25 images from which you can choose your free print. All other images will be available to purchase (in various formats or on a DVD) for a discounted price

Where and when are the sessions?

I’m in the process of confirming everything but the sessions are likely to be in the Thelwall / Grappenhall / Lymm areas of Warrington. Provisional weekends are 18/19th & 25/26th September.

What style of portraits are you planning?

The photoshoots will be done using a studio set up with a white background and studio lights

What do I do now?

If you’re interested, please email me at info@bridgetfrancisphotography.com and let me know which of the above dates would suit you best. As soon as I confirm venues I will get back in touch and we can confirm your photoshoot. Sending an email at this point does NOT obligate you in anyway to making a confirmed booking, it is merely an expression of interest.

Of course if you have any questions, do please get in touch and I’ll do my best to answer them. Also, if having your photo taken is really not your thing but you still want to support the work of Macmillan Cancer Support then you can donate directly on my page here http://www.justgiving.com/Bridget-Francis

How time flies… Courtney leaves primary school

Well I wasn’t really expecting that. Any of it!

Firstly, I can’t believe how time flies. It seems just months ago that I walked Courtney off to school on his first day. His sister Megan had yet to put in an appearance and he just seemed so tiny. Smiley, but tiny. Eight weeks later Megan appeared and immediately he grew not only in size but with the responsibility of being a big brother.

Today he left primary school and in 6 short weeks he’ll be starting anew at Lymm High School – at the bottom of the pack again. As one of his friend’s dads put on facebook tonight, he left his twin boys at junior school this morning and picked them up as little men! Over emotional, schmalzy – you bet! We have an excuse though, at either end of the day we, the parents of these little men and women were bombarded with emotion and memories.

It started off at 9 this morning with the leavers’ assembly. The whole class put on a performance, pretending they were at a reunion in 2070 – the perfect backdrop for looking back over their school years. Sketches they’d written which were funny and witty, all dressed up in their old people’s clothes (in Courtney’s case, his dad’s fleece, shirt and tie – who says Andy dresses older than his age?!). They sang some songs – Take That’s Greatest Day, Heather Small’s ‘Proud’ and some others which I can’t remember – I may have been to busy snuffling into my kleenex. All performed to a backdrop of photos of their time at school. They looked so young and child like – it’s difficult to explain but it feels like a big thing that they’re going from a small village school with a class of under 30 to being in a year group of over 300.

More emotion was flung at us as this was also the leaving assembly for the Headteacher, Mrs Morgan. The fondness and respect and love the children have for her was so obvious and she, and the rest of the staff were going through tissues like nobodies business.

So I left there feeling rather bereft that a big chunk of Courtney’s childhood is done and dusted. Ahead is the whole teenager thing (he’s been practising that quite a lot already), the grunts, the groans the horror of being seen out in public with your parents (especially Andy in THAT fleece!) but we’ll see him at the other end and we’ll also make sure we’re around, being old and deeply uncool, along the way.

Megan and I decided that we would go and pick Courtney up from school today as when he gets to high school he’ll be chucked off the bus at some point and he’ll amble home himself. I so wasn’t prepared for the year 6 kids coming out in floods of tears, their shirts signed by friends and teachers – I may have started my glass of wine a little earlier than usual today!

I’m not Courtney’s real mum. She died when he was very young and I met him shortly after I’d met his dad when he was just three. I can still feel today his little hand trustingly put in mine as we walked across a snowy car park on that first meeting. From that very first day he’s accepted me into his life as his dad’s partner and as his mum and I will never be able to thank him enough for that – he could have made it so much more difficult for me.

Courtney, Renee would have been so proud of you today – you are an exceptional young man and I couldn’t love you more. Despite all the emotion of today, I can’t wait for me and dad to stand by and see you through this next exciting stage in your life – we are so confident you will do well and make us proud. Good luck Mush!

Family Photoshoot – Warrington Portrait Photography

I’d like to start this evening by thanking Mark Brosnan… Mark introduced me to Heidi back in 1992; I was looking for a room to rent in Manchester to start my PGCE, Heidi was looking for a lodger. In usual fashion I’d left myself about 3 days to find somewhere to live before my course started so I quizzed Mark at length about this Heidi person as to whether she was an axe murderer, fashioned slippers out of her lodgers or was generally an all round good egg. He told me that she drank white wine like a fish – my kind of girl!

So, one evening in early September 1992 I pitched up at the front door in Northbank Gardens in Manchester, bottle of wine and fags in hand and introduced myself as the new lodger. It worked! She liked me, I liked her and it was the beginning of a friendship that through much wine, giggles, tears, weddings, kiddies, skiing holidays has seen us through the last 18 years. The faces are a bit more haggard (mainly mine!) but the giggles and the wine are still there – we don’t see each other as much as we used to – but she’s always there and I hope H you know I’m always here too mrs!

Heidi celebrated her 40th birthday a few weeks ago and my present was a family photo shoot which we did today. In the mix were Heidi’s husband, Chris, their boys, Zac and Max and Heidi’s parents Ros and Chris. It was a noisy, frantic couple of hours but good fun too – here are a few shots from the day:)

Oh, by the way, Heidi is now running fabulous swimming lessons for the little ones throughout Shropshire – if you’re interested then have a look at www.waterbabies.co.uk – if only I’d known about this lot when mine were younger!

My Brown Eyed Girl – Warrington Portrait Photography

Megan Bridget Francis Photography Portraits WarringtonMegan Bridget Francis Photography Cheshire PortraitsMegan Bridget Francis Photography Warrington Portraits It struck me today that since my photography business is beginning to grow legs and I regularly have photo shoots and weddings to attend to, the amount of time I’m cajoling my children to pose infront of the camera is diminishing at a rate of knots.

I came across these pictures tonight which I took back in February, still in RAW format and not even looked at properly since then. I adore them, and yes, I know I’m biased but isn’t she gorgeous?!
To Megan, my brown eyed girl – the most beautiful girl in the world x
If I can persuade my son to leave his xbox, football, trips out on his bike for any length of time I’ll update with some pictures of him sometime soon!
Jared Tseng - July 8, 2010 - 9:51 pm

You’re right — she is beautiful! Definitely don’t forget to take those family shots. Those are the ones that will cherish.
