I’d like to start this evening by thanking Mark Brosnan… Mark introduced me to Heidi back in 1992; I was looking for a room to rent in Manchester to start my PGCE, Heidi was looking for a lodger. In usual fashion I’d left myself about 3 days to find somewhere to live before my course started so I quizzed Mark at length about this Heidi person as to whether she was an axe murderer, fashioned slippers out of her lodgers or was generally an all round good egg. He told me that she drank white wine like a fish – my kind of girl!
So, one evening in early September 1992 I pitched up at the front door in Northbank Gardens in Manchester, bottle of wine and fags in hand and introduced myself as the new lodger. It worked! She liked me, I liked her and it was the beginning of a friendship that through much wine, giggles, tears, weddings, kiddies, skiing holidays has seen us through the last 18 years. The faces are a bit more haggard (mainly mine!) but the giggles and the wine are still there – we don’t see each other as much as we used to – but she’s always there and I hope H you know I’m always here too mrs!
Heidi celebrated her 40th birthday a few weeks ago and my present was a family photo shoot which we did today. In the mix were Heidi’s husband, Chris, their boys, Zac and Max and Heidi’s parents Ros and Chris. It was a noisy, frantic couple of hours but good fun too – here are a few shots from the day![]()
Oh, by the way, Heidi is now running fabulous swimming lessons for the little ones throughout Shropshire – if you’re interested then have a look at www.waterbabies.co.uk – if only I’d known about this lot when mine were younger!
